The 2021 SANIPEX SUMMER SERIES Ends On A High Note With Record Participation amongst the DOSC Ocean Paddlers
As the proud sponsor of the Dubai Offshore Sailing Club’s (DOSC) Ocean Paddlers’ SANIPEX SUMMER SERIES, the SANIPEX GROUP hosted the end of season championship race on 15th October 2021, followed by an evening prize-giving event.
The penultimate race in the SANIPEX SUMMER SERIES attracted record numbers with over 60 keen paddlers battling it out on surfskis to complete three two-kilometre laps around the cans offshore; the race format included a handicap-based reverse order start for a ‘winner takes all’ finish, making for some serious competition out on the water. Numerous spectators – mainly friends and family in addition to members of the wider sailing community – gathered to cheer on the competitors, making for a lively atmosphere on DOSC’s private beach.
The SANIPEX SUMMER SERIES prize-giving event was held at DOSC’s alfresco-style venue, Tentola, which enjoys uninterrupted views of the Club’s sandy beaches and the temperate waters of the Gulf. Paddling legend Oscar Chalupski, 12-time world surfski championship winner, made a special guest appearance to hand out the prizes, also taking the time to deliver an inspirational speech later on in the evening.
The 2021 SANIPEX SUMMER SERIES winners were announced as Chloe Hilton-Taylor, who took the Female Champion title, Tiago Oliveira was awarded Male Champion, and Yvonne Inglis as Most Improved Paddler. Each were awarded prizes from the SPANIPEX GROUP’s LIVE WELL range, available at the SANIPEX GALLERY. The Female Champion was given a stylish Cosiscoop Timber Glass Lantern, while the Male Champion received a Boretti Terzo Charcoal BBQ. The Most Improved Paddler took home a Cosiscoop Original Gas Lantern.
In addition, Jonathan Dowes, Yvonne Inglis, Greg Slingerland and Paul Stokes were recognised for having completed all seven races of the 2021 SANIPEX SUMMER SERIES, each receiving a Gymkhana portable outdoor lantern as a prize. Race participants and their guests won a selection of other LIVE WELL luxury lifestyle products and DOSC F&B vouchers, with random spot prizes taking place throughout the evening.
Consisting of a total of seven races held every two weeks, the first of which took place on Friday 23rd July 2021, this year’s SANIPEX SUMMER SERIES has been a resounding success with over 50 participants per race.
We are extremely grateful to the SANIPEX GROUP for their support, which has enabled us to extend the paddling season with the introduction of the SANIPEX SUMMER SERIES. The new Series has been really well received by the DOSC Ocean Paddlers, all of whom have found it to be a challenging and highly enjoyable addition to our annual racing calendar.
There are so many synergies between SANIPEX GROUP and the DOSC Ocean Paddlers, not least being that encouraging people to Live Well and enjoy life to the full is central to our brand ethos. At the same time, with SANIPEX GROUP having been in operation for over 25 years and the DOSC Ocean Paddlers being established over 20 years ago, we both have roots firmly embedded in Dubai. Being able to support the wider community and encourage people to lead a healthy, active lifestyle is a privilege that we are proud to be able to fulfil.
