Based in the Education City campus, the state-of-the-art medical centre includes many clinical services alongside world-class biomedical research facilities. With a budget of $7.9 billion, it is the largest grant compared with any similar facility in the world. Thanks to this incredible fund, the Sidra Medical & Research Centre honours three essential missions – world-class clinical care, medical education and biomedical research.
In terms of design, we see a futuristic holistic approach. Sidra incorporates three atriums – for children, women and further adults – with healing gardens between each section of the hospital. This offers patients fresh air and calming water fall features to aid relaxation and thus healing, which is a truly biophilic concept in line with architectural trends and LEED building standards.

Hygiene is a crucial concern for specification within the Healthcare sector. Thanks to the robust and hygienic properties of stainless steel, many items specified for the Sidra Medical and Research Centre washrooms were chosen in this finish, from grab bars – to cater to accessibility requirements – to touchless soap dispensers. In an all-digital facility incorporating new technology is also key, especially when it increases hygiene standards, which it why the touchless type cistern and plate was also chosen, to ensure touchless flushing of WC’s thanks to sensor technology.
