The Story

Eponymously named after two historic guild halls, the luxury boutique retreat Vintry & Mercer Hotel in Vintry Ward is located both on the banks of the Thames and in the heart of London’s banking district.

Design direction is drawn from the merchant streets and livery halls of a by-gone era, nestled in ancient avenues the surrounding history is fused into the ambience of the hotel. The atmosphere oozes Art Deco inspiration, with an entryway of overhead bulbs creating film-star-feels before even entering the hotel. Inside, the careful edit celebrates lush foliage, plush fabrics, and geometric detailing.

The Styling

Transportive to a time of tradition and trade, the Vintry & Mercer comes to life with the contemporary styling of the hotel’s 92 tailored rooms and suites. Bespoke map come needle-and-thread wall coverings, custom-made velvet headboards and leather door handles are elegant reminders of the past that create a melting pot of the past and present. The contemporary spin sits perfectly alongside modern luxuries and amenities.

Turquoise tiled bathrooms add to the charming mix of old and new with deep bathtub and rainfall shower for the discerned traveller. Bagnodesign was selected to supply high quality brassware, sanitaryware and accessories that ensure modern functionality whilst blending in with the hotel’s unique design concept. The wonderfully deep freestanding bath tub with pull-out shower and handy drinks ledge promises a relaxing reprieve from the bustling city. Guests may also choose to drench away the day with Bagnodesign’s luxury overhead rain shower.

A report in the Evening Standard newspaper as ‘hotel of the week’ mentions that ‘the turquoise tiled bathrooms are an interior influencer’s dream’  whilst Forbes reviews  ‘large-format teal metro tiles and power showers in the bathrooms and design-led lighting throughout give a top-end-feel that any city slicker would be satisfied with.’

Despite rife competition across London for best location, instagramable aesthetics and vibing ambience, Vintry & Mercer covers all grounds as a fusion of favoured features from past & present worlds.

On-Site Bars & Restaurants

The hotel – run completely on renewable wind, solar and biomass energy – also features its own bars & restaurants. Izakaya is a ground floor Asian Tapas restaurant whilst Mercer Roof Terrace offers al-fresco igloos with rare inner-city views over St.Paul’s Cathedral and the shard. In true throwback fashion, the hotel naturally also features the underground ‘Do Not Disturb’ bar showcasing an undeniable New York 20’s cigar lounge vibe.
